How any Canadians can trust Harper is beyond me. After over 2 hours of discussion with Governor General Michaelle Jean, a decision to prorogue parliament has been made. Aside from over exaggerating the Liberal-NDP coalition and a quick advertising campaign that directly mislead Canadians about the coalition, Harper still felt compelled to look directly into the TV cameras and lie to Canadians yet another time.

On Thursday Dec. 4, 2008, he stated that:

“Last Friday I asked Canadians to give us their opinion on the parliamentary situation. That feedback has been overwhelming and very clear. They want Canada’s government to continue to work on the agenda they voted for — our plan to strengthen the economy.”

Looking at the results from a poll shown on CTV, this can not be farther from the truth, no matter how many times Harper tells himself that it is. Results showed that 35% of people want the Conservatives to remain in power. However, 40% wanted the current government to change. The only overwhelming thing here is the fact that Canadians are EXTREMELY divided on the issue. If Harper can please leave a comment as to where his overwhelming and CLEAR support is coming from, that would be very helpful.

This is the 4th time since just before the election, that Harper has changed his mind about the economy. A leader is not someone who crumbles under pressure. A leader is someone who has a clear plan and unites the country with it.

Now, Harper has 6 weeks to find a proper economic solution. 6 more weeks that Canadians will suffer without a proper stimulus package. 6 weeks to wait for an outright liar and horrible leader to determine the fate of our economy. 6 more weeks for him to go back and forth on the issue and tell Canadians that the economy is fine… and then a few days later say we are in one of the largest recessions in history… and then the week after offer no proper economic plan or package… and then a week later decide to focus explicitly on the economy during the prorogation period.

What will Harper decide during these 6 weeks? I can honestly say that I have no clue… and that is what scares me.
